How can I help SAFE Shelter residents?
The shelter depends heavily on community volunteers to provide assistance for residents as they prepare to reunite in a safe environment in the community. Almost everyone has some special skill or talent that would benefit the shelter.

What do I need to know before I volunteer?
If your volunteer interest require that you come to the shelter, you should be aware that our location is confidential. We only give our address to battered women in need of shelter and those persons who are involved in our program. This is necessary to make our home as safe as possible.
A positive commitment to working with victims of domestic violence.
The ability to maintain a non-judgmental attitude.
Confidentiality is a must.

We are here to…
Listen—not to work miracles
Help women discover what they are feeling—not make the feeling go away
Help women identify their problems—not to decide for them.
Help women discover their own strengths—not to rescue them and leave them still vulnerable
Help women learn to choose not to make it unnecessary for them to make difficult changes.
Provide support for change.
